Mark Michael Joyce 1984 – 2013

Mark Michael Joyce, 29, died Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 9:56 p.m. at his residence surrounded by his family after a courageous six-year battle with melanoma.

He was born May 17, 1984, in Lima, Ohio, to Michael P. & Deborah E. “Debbie” (Strange) Joyce.

Mr. Joyce was a 2002 graduate of Shawnee High School and a 2006 graduate of Bowling Green State University. Mark was co-owner of Lima Harley Davidson, with his brother, Todd, and father, Mike. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, golf, NASCAR, motorcycles and college football, especially his Michigan Wolverines. Most of all, Mark was a devoted family man, who loved spending time with his family, always putting others first. He was the best uncle ever! Mark was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Deborah E. “Debbie” (Irish) Bowers, of Bluffton, S.C., father, Michael P. (Diane R.) Joyce, of Spencerville; sister, Nicole L. Joyce, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., brother, Todd P. (Tara M.) Joyce, of Lima; grandmother, Arleen K. Joyce, of Lima; nephew, Dylan P. Joyce, of Lima; niece, Rian N. “Duke” Joyce, of Lima; girlfriend, Jesse Hughes, of Lima, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his dogs, Beau and Gizmo.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald W. “Don” & Janet E. Strange and grandfather, Robert H. Joyce.

Services will be begin at noon Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Dr. Joseph Bishman and Pastor Bryan Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday September 4, 2013 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mark M. Joyce Memorial Fund, C/O Superior Federal Credit Union.
