Terry Emma Joyce, 60, of NH Route 49, Thornton, died May 12, 2015, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital, in Lebanon, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Campton, NH on June 11, 1954, Terry was the daughter of Russell M. and Ardelle B. (Benton) Gilman.
Terry was a life-long resident of Thornton. She graduated from Thornton Schools and from Plymouth High School, class of 1972. She also was a graduate of Plymouth State College, class of 1995.
Terry worked in the ticket office at Waterville Valley Ski Resort, the former Gilman’s Outdoor Equipment, in Rumney, and as the administrative assistant of the Thornton Police Department, until her retirement.
Terry served the town of Thornton in many ways including; Thornton’s town Treasurer, the Supervisor of the Checklist and the Emergency Management Director. She and her husband, Walter, were also foster parents for many years.
Terry was a member of the New Hope Fellowship Church, in Campton, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Terry was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer N. Joyce, who died in July of 1976.
Terry is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Walter G. Joyce of Thornton, her daughter Tanya O’Brien and her husband Sean, sons, Leven Joyce and his wife Angela, Edward Joyce, all of Thornton, Kelley and his wife Kerri of Seaford, NY, four grandchildren, Mitchell Joyce, Alexa Joyce, Lily O’Brien and Zeland O’Brien, her parents, Russell and Ardelle Gilman, of Thornton, NH, her brothers, Donald Gilman and his wife Nita, of Plymouth, Lee Gilman of Chichester, NH, her sisters, Donna Killion and her husband John of Concord, Elledra Presby of Lisbon, NH, many nieces and nephews.
