Michael Richard Joyce, 76, of Milford, DE passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at home. Born: He was born on October 1, 1936 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of the late William and Florence Pallen Joyce. Personal: His wife, Marjean E. McCabe Joyce, passed away in 2008. He grew up in Rumson, NJ and he moved to Hunterdon County in 1963. He then moved to Milford, DE several years ago. He was a Navy Veteran, serving from 1954 to 1958 on board the Ticonderoga Aircraft Carrier. Michael was a Police Officer in Hampton and Glen Gardner many years ago. In addition, he was a Fireman in Newark, NJ for 25 years until his retirement in 1985. He also started his own excavating company, Zimjoy Excavating Corp. in 1972. Memberships: include Boy Scout Master, Elks Exalted Ruler, Hampton Fire Department, Hampton Emergency Squad and Hampton School Board. Survivors: include three sons, Michael William Joyce of Easton, PA, Paul R. Joyce and his wife, Cynthia of Bethlehem, PA and Daniel J. Joyce of Hampton, NJ; one daughter, Nancy Wilbert and her husband, Harold of Annandale, NJ; ten grandchildren, Heather Wallace, Paul Fell, Kaytee Joyce, Holly Joyce, Meghan Joyce, Richard Moore, Michele Joyce, Daniel Joyce, Hance Wilbert and Michael Wilbert; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Danagher and Marjorie Stewart; several nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Mo. Predeceased, in addition to his wife, by one sister, Helene Cooley. Services: Calling hours Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. with Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ 08833. Interment will be private. Memorials: to Hampton Fire Department, 1 Wells Avenue, Hampton, NJ 08827.
