Joseph O’Neil “Joe” Joyce, 43 of Indianapolis, IN formerly of Bloomington passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 11:47 am in Indianapolis at St. Vincent Hospital.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11 am at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington with Rev. Dr. Phenues Bush officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 4-7 pm at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, you may send a memorial contribution to the Children of Joseph O. Joe Joyce was born on December 1, 1970 to Lionel Livingston Joyce, Sr. and JanetteJoyce in Bloomington, IL. He departed this life on November 19, 2014 in Indianapolis, IN. He graduated from Bloomington High School and later attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.
He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church as a youth and a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church as a young adult. After the death of his mother, JanetteJoyce, he moved to Indianapolis, IN where he worked as a Manager at Culvers Restaurant; he joined New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Indianapolis, IN.
Joe loved to surprise his Dad with visits to Houston, TX. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandson, and family as well as card games, sports, concerts, and eating. He was one of the three musketeers (Jeff and Zack) who would eat up everything in the refrigerator as teenagers.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory two sons Christopher and Steffon of Bloomington, IL, and one grandson, Kayden Williams of Bloomington, IL.
Left to cherish his life are his father and stepmother, Lionel and Dr. Marguerite ShaneJoyce of Houston, TX; his brothers Lionel Joyce, Jr., of Bloomington, IL, Lionel Freeman (Georgia) of Dallas, TX, Terrence Joyce of New Orleans, LA, and Rev. Jeffrey Shane (Sheila) of Salinas, CA; two sisters, Keran Joyce of New Orleans, LA and Joy Mayes of Marietta, GA. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his mother Janette, Joe was preceded in death by a sister GwendolynJoyce of Lake Charles, LA.
