James Joyce, age 95, of Sterling, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Coventry Living Center in Sterling.
James was born September 29, 1916 in Wadena, Iowa the son of John and Catherine Anne (Cavaney) Joyce. He married Doris Albert on July 16, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa. She died on December 31, 2002. He owned and operated Metallurgical in Rock Falls for 25 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sterling.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Wilson of San Jose, Calif. and Mary (Robert) Jewell of Urbandale, Iowa; two sons, James (Sheila) Joyce of Queenstown, Md. and Thomas (Janet) Joyce of San Jose, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, William Joyce and John Joyce; and one granddaughter.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sterling with Reverend Juan Ayala officiating. Visitation will be from 9 – 9:45 AM on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
