Clans of Ireland are applying to have the Clans placed on UNESCO register of Intangible Cultural Heritage. There notification to me on behalf of the clan stated –

“The Board of Clans of Ireland, a United Nations Civil Society Non-Governmental Organisation, has decided on behalf of its Members to submit to the Irish Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, an expression of interest for the inclusion of Irish Clans in the UNESCO Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.”

“The process of application is rigorous. We will submit our application to the Irish Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht by January 31st. Should it be decided that our application is worthy of submission, the Irish Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht will then make a nomination on behalf of Ireland, by submitting the application to the UNESCO Committee of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which convenes annually to evaluate proposed nominations. Currently there are four hundred seventy elements on the Inventory from one hundred seventeen countries.”

On behalf of Clan Joyce of Joyce Country I have submitted a letter in support of the application.
