Christopher Stephen Joyce passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2012. Christopher was born in Ann Arbor on October 13, 1971, the son of Larry and JoAnn Joyce, currently of Goodyear, AZ. A graduate of Pioneer High School, Chris received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He attended the Michigan Center for the Blind in Kalamazoo and the Nebraska Center for the Blind in Lincoln, NE. Life was a struggle for Chris every day, yet he found many pleasures in it. He was an avid sports fan who followed closely the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Red Wings, the Michigan Wolverines, and the teams of his alma mater, UNL. Other interests included history, politics, world affairs, music, and movies. On television, he enjoyed Jeopardy and with his good memory and quick recall, he played it well. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary Joyce and Earl and Ella Pauley. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents and by a wide array of relatives including aunts and uncles: Jeannine Pauley, Larry Pauley (Deb), Ron Pauley (Annette), Bill Pauley (Linda), Camilla Meccia, Ursula Joyce, Ray Joyce, and many cousins living in Ohio, California, Arizona, Oregon, and Connecticut. A celebration of Christopher’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, in St. Mary’s Chapel, 331 Thompson St., Ann Arbor. May Chris rest in the peace of the Lord. Contributions in Christopher’s memory may be sent to the University of Nebraska, Services for Students with Disabilities, 132 Canfield Administration Building, Lincoln, NE 68588-0401.
