Earl Joyce of 1107 West Commerce Street, Honey Grove, died about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 1978, at his home, following a long illness.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 3rd, at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel, with the Rev. Sam Riceand Dr. Charles Fox officiating. Interment was made at Oakwood Cemetery, Honey Grove.
Pallbearers were Roger Joyce, Charles Brazile,Charles Holley, Harvey Nunnelley, Mac Siebenthall, and Harvey Womack.
Joyce was born at Milford Community, Lamar County, December 20, 1901, the son of Ruben Hensley Joyceand Gincy Ann Martin Joyce. He was married November 21, 1923 at Ladonia to Mary Ethel Nunnelley. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Dial Presbyterian Church at Dial, of which he had been Elder for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Joyce of the home; one son, C. E. Joyce, Honey Grove; two daughters, Mrs.Mary Holley of Mesquite and Mrs. Mattie Sale of Paris; one brother, Joe J. Joyce of Bonham; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
